PLASTIC SURGERY CONTOURING THE BODY WITH LIPOSUCTION

The accumulation of localized fat in different regions of the body is very common and can distort the silhouette making the area unsightly. These localized fatty deposits can be situated in the neck, abdomen, back, bottom, legs, knees and breasts (male).

The presence of this fat produces in most cases, not only an aesthetic problem but a real big problem when dressing to find adequate clothing for the distorted body shape. The difficulties are well known about trying to find the right clothes to fit if we have “saddle bags” on our hips and we are often unable to buy clothes, such as trousers, off the peg.  Often the only way to dress when there is an excess of fat on the abdomen is to buy very loose fitting clothes to try and hide the problem but sometimes all that can do is to make us look even larger. Even fat knees cause problems as you are not able to wear short skirts and nice shorts and feel comfortable.

The treatment of this accumulation of fat and cellulites is to perform liposuction in conjunction with liposculpture unless you are able to replace your diet and exercise regime so that you eliminate the fatty tissue that has accumulated in parts of the body that are so often  resistant to traditional weight loss methods.

The liposuction consists of aspirating the fat through incisions of less than 1cm in the area to be treated with a very fine canular. We always work at a superficial level where the fat tissue is situated. The fat that is removed can never come back because we take away the fat cells are they cannot reproduce themselves. Liposculpture is the complimentary treatment to treat the laxness of the skin and is performed at the same time.

Nowadays with the incorporation of ultrasound there is less postoperative bruising and pain produced.

The surgery is made as an out-patient with a local anaesthetic. You make a quick recovery and it is necessary to wear a girdle or compression bandage for approximately one month to reduce the swelling and bruising and to help the skin adjust to its new shape.
