SEMI-PERMANENT MAKE-UP

Semi-permanent make-up or cosmetic tattoo allows us to outline shapes in the face that last for a long time without the use of traditional make-up. If you are considering having semi-permanent make-up the following may help to answer your questions.

FAQs

The information that we have put in this website is of a general nature and is not intended for the individual. You need to understand that any treatment will only be offered after a full and informed consultation with your specialist team. Should you need to know more please contact Clinica Foguet.

What is done in semi-permanent make-up?
It consists of inserting a pigment below the surface of the skin with a little needle applicator.

What type of pigment do you use?
The pigments that we use are a base of iron oxide and titanium dioxide, they do not produce allergies and are especially indicated for these types of tattoos.

Is the application painful?
In Clinica Foguet we make the tattoos with a local anaesthetic so that the patient feels no discomfort. The anaesthetic is similar to that of a dentist.

How is the treated area afterwards?
The area where we insert the pigment can sometimes become a little inflamed in the following few days. Afterwards there appears a crust in the points where the small needle was used but falls off in a couple of days.

Where do you make the tattoos?
They are often put around the eyes like eyeliner, in the eyebrows and as lip liner. Often we are able to camouflage or improve the aesthetic results after surgery.

Are you able to choose the type of the tattoo?
Yes you are able to make the choice between very light or natural colours with less intensity or a more noticeable effect with very dark colours. Normally you choose the colour first before the treatment.

Are the effects immediate?
No immediately after the treatment the colour is very strong, bright and darker than the colour you have chosen. In the majority of cases this will lighten between 20 to 40% during the healing process that takes about 15 days.

Is it necessary to have more than one session?
Yes it can be necessary to reapply the colour depending on each individual case. Depending on the colour  used, the type of skin and the state of health of the skin you may lose part of the tattoo or not have an even colour. In these cases we reapply in another session.

How permanent are the results?
Depending on the colour and area of the tattoo and how the skin retains the pigment you will be able to see it fade over the years and in some patients this could be a very long time. The lighter colours will fade quicker than the darker ones.
